75 Indians evacuated from Syria amidst turmoil following Bashar al Assad’s fall

Amid an influence disaster in Syria, India on Tuesday evacuated 75 Indian nationals from the conflict-torn nation. The evacuation was performed two days after the insurgent forces ousted President Bashar Assad’s authoritarian authorities.

The evacuees included 44 ‘zaireen’ from Jammu and Kashmir who have been stranded at Saida Zainab.(ANI)

In response to the Ministry of Exterior Affairs (MEA), the operation was coordinated by the Indian embassies in Damascus and Beirut following an evaluation of the safety state of affairs.

“The Authorities of India as we speak evacuated 75 Indian nationals from Syria, following current developments in that nation,” it stated in a late-night assertion.

The MEA additional added that each one the evacuees safely crossed over to Lebanon and would return by accessible industrial flights to India.

Who’re the evacuees?

“The evacuees included 44 ‘zaireen’ from Jammu and Kashmir who have been stranded at Saida Zainab. All Indian nationals have safely crossed over to Lebanon and can return by accessible industrial flights to India,” the MEA assertion stated.

The Ministry of Exterior Affairs (MEA) said that the federal government prioritises the protection and safety of Indian nationals overseas.

“Indian nationals remaining in Syria are suggested to remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Damascus,” the MEA suggested.

“The federal government will proceed to intently monitor the state of affairs,” it added.

The Syrian authorities on Sunday collapsed as insurgent forces took management of Damascus following the strategic seize of a number of different outstanding cities and cities.

Quickly after the seize, ousted President Bashar al-Assad fled the nation and reportedly sought asylum in Russia after the insurgent group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) took management of Damascus. This marked the tip of his household’s 50-year rule.

Assad’s almost 14-year tenure was marked by civil struggle, bloodshed, and a brutal crackdown on political opponents.

On Monday, the MEA indicated that it’s monitoring the developments in Syria and advocated for a peaceable and inclusive political course of led by the Syrian individuals going ahead.
