4 militants arrested in Manipur

4 militants belonging to completely different proscribed outfits, and concerned in extortion and recruiting of recent cadres, had been arrested by safety forces from Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal districts, police stated on Sunday (Could 18, 2025).

All of the arrests had been made on Saturday (Could 17, 2025).

Safety forces arrested one cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Celebration (PWG) from Leirongthel Pitra in Thoubal district.

The arrested man was allegedly concerned in extortion in Thoubal District. A handgun, together with ammunition, was recovered from his possession, police stated.

A member of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup was arrested from Khabeisoi in Imphal East district. He was accused of being concerned in recruiting new cadres to the organisation.

Safety forces arrested one cadre of the United Nationwide Liberation Entrance (Pambei) from Khumbong in Imphal West district. He was charged with gathering extortion cash from vehicles plying alongside NH-37 at Khumbong Bazar.

One Individuals’s Liberation Military cadre concerned in extortion was arrested from Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leirak in Thoubal District.

In the meantime, two SMG carbines with empty magazines, a modified CMG with one empty journal, one DBBL Gun, one 9 mm pistol, 5 PEK explosives, and different articles had been recovered throughout a search operation on the foothill of Kumbi Setupur in Bishnupur District, police stated.
