MPs vote to decriminalise abortion in England and Wales

MPs have voted to vary abortion laws to cease girls in England and Wales being prosecuted for ending their being pregnant.

The Labour MP for Gower, Tonia Antoniazzi, led the decision to decriminalise the 1% of abortions that occur after 24 weeks, saying these had been “determined girls” who want “compassion not criminalisation”.

As a problem of conscience, MPs had been allowed to vote in response to their private beliefs, and backed the plan by a giant majority of 242 votes.

Abortion was already authorized as much as 24 weeks in Nice Britain, with the approval of two medical doctors, and it will nonetheless be the case.
