Within the 2021 West Bengal Meeting election, Nasiruddin Ahamed (Lal) of TMC defeated Abhijit Ghosh of BJP by a margin of 46987 votes which was 22.66% of the whole votes polled. A complete of 207328 votes have been polled within the election, of which TMC received 111696 votes which was 53.87% of the whole votes polled.

Mahua Moitra (TMC) received the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat, of which Kaliganj is part of.

POLL DATES

The gazette notification for the Nilambur bypoll was issued on Could 26, 2025 (Monday), the final date of scrutiny of nominations was June 3, 2025 (Tuesday) and the final date of withdrawal of nominations was June 5, 2025 (Thursday). This constituency will vote on Thursday, June 19, 2025 and the counting of votes will occur on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Within the 2021 Meeting elections the counting of votes was held on Sunday, Could 2, 2021.

Electoral Dynamics– Kaliganj

Kaliganj Meeting seat of West Bengal has been a stronghold for the Left alliance up to now. Congress’ candidate Kapil Uddin Shaikh has been backed by the Left Entrance. Then again, Trinamool Congress has fielded Alifa Ahmed, daughter of Kaliganj’s final MLA Nasiruddin Ahamed. BJP has by no means received this seat.
