Telangana Minister Seethakka questions nationwide award for Pushpa, cites bias towards movies with social messages

Panchayat Raj and Rural Improvement Minister Danasari Anasuya, populatrly often called Seethakka, has sparked a debate after she made sturdy remarks on the current Nationwide Award conferred on the film Pushpa-The Rise. Evaluating it to the critically acclaimed Jai Bhim, she questioned the standards for recognising movies that painting socially related themes versus people who glorify controversial characters.

Talking at an occasion in Mulugu on Monday, she mentioned, “A movie like Jai Bhim, which showcased rights and impressed the downtrodden sections, didn’t obtain a Nationwide Award. There are not any Central incentives for such significant movies. As an alternative, a smuggler stripping a policeman bare was awarded. What message does this ship?”

The Minister criticised the portrayal of a smuggler as a hero and a policeman as villain in Pushpa, including that such narratives undermine the dignity of legislation enforcement officers. “How does a police officer, who legally curbs crime, change into a zero,” she questioned.

Seethakka emphasised the necessity for cinema to uphold societal values and encourage future generations. “Movies ought to have qualities that elevate society and defend the dignity of others. Society will progress provided that we respect establishments established by the Structure,” she mentioned.

Whereas clarifying that she just isn’t towards movies or inventive freedom, the Minister harassed the significance of encouraging cinema that delivers optimistic messages. “Awards ought to go to movies that encourage and take society ahead, not people who glorify smuggling or undermine lawful authority,” she added.

Actor Allu Arjun received the award for Greatest Actor (male) for his titular function in Pushpa-The Rise (2021)on the 69th Nationwide Movie Awards.
