The Workers’ Provident Fund Organisation enrolled round 8.74 lakh new members in November 2024, registering an 18.8% rise from the determine recorded within the corresponding interval in 2023, the Union Labour Ministry mentioned on Wednesday (January 22, 2025).

“This surge in new memberships may be attributed to rising employment alternatives, elevated consciousness of worker advantages, and EPFO’s profitable outreach programmes,” the Ministry claimed in a launch.

The online addition of members was 14.63 lakh, which is a rise of 9.07% in contrast with October 2024 and 4.88% in contrast with November 2023.

The Ministry mentioned a noticeable facet of the payroll knowledge for November 2024 was the dominance of younger new members (18-25 age group). The EPFO added 4.81 lakh new members within the 18-25 age group constituting 54.97% of the overall new members added in November 2024. “New members added within the month from 18-25 age group exhibits a rise of 9.56% in contrast with earlier month of October 2024 and a development of 13.99% from the earlier yr in November 2023,” the Ministry mentioned.

Roughly 14.39 lakh members exited and subsequently rejoined the EPFO. “This determine represents 11.47% enhance in comparison with the earlier month of October 2024. It additionally depicts a major year-over-year development of 34.75% in comparison with November 2023,” the Ministry mentioned.

Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh individually added greater than 5% of the overall web members throughout the month.
