NEW DELHI: The Joint Committee of Parliament (JCP) panel on the Waqf (Modification) Invoice formally adopted its report on Wednesday, and the amended model of the proposed legislation with 15-11 votes was confirmed by chairperson Jagdambika Pal.
The adoption comes amid opposition’s protests and accusations of presidency interference in non secular affairs of Muslims.
In the meantime, opposition members strongly criticised the handed invoice, stating it was “unconstitutional” and would undermine the Waqf board via governmental interference in Muslim non secular affairs, reported information company PTI.
