Man detained for smuggling overseas foreign money at RGIA

Customs officers on the Rajiv Gandhi Worldwide Airport (RGIA) on Tuesday detained a passenger trying to smuggle overseas foreign money, together with Saudi Arabian Riyals and US {Dollars}.

Forex price ₹22 lakh was seized from him.

The passenger, who was scheduled to journey to Dubai, hid the overseas foreign money inside his baggage in an try and evade detection. Airport authorities grew to become suspicious of his actions and detained him for additional inspection.

A radical search of his baggage led to the restoration and seizure of the smuggled foreign money.

Additional investigation into the case is underway.
