Over 1,800 contempt circumstances in Supreme Courtroom, 1.43 lakh throughout Excessive Courts stay pending: Regulation Minister

Greater than 1,800 contempt circumstances are pending within the Supreme Courtroom whereas one other 1.43 lakh circumstances are pending in Excessive Courts, Regulation Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal instructed the Lok Sabha in a written reply on Friday (March 28, 2025).
As per knowledge shared by the highest courtroom, 1,852 contempt circumstances are pending earlier than the Supreme Courtroom as on March 20, the Minister stated.
Citing data accessible on the Nationwide Judicial Information Grid (NJDG), the Minister stated that 1,43,573 contempt circumstances have been pending with the Excessive Courts as on March 24. “The explanations for non-compliance with the orders in contempt circumstances pending earlier than the Supreme Courtroom and varied Excessive Courts should not accessible with the federal government,” Mr. Meghwal stated.
“So far as the Authorities of India is anxious, the duty of implementation of courtroom orders rests with the respective administrative Ministries and departments,” he added.
