Agartala: Assam Rifles, in coordination with police, carried out a joint operation and seized and destroyed ganja (marijuana) plantations price round Rs 6 crore in Tripura, officers stated on Thursday.
A defence spokesman stated that the para-military troops and Tripura Police personnel of their joint operation at Batadhala in Sepahijala district on Wednesday afternoon seized ganja (marijuana) price Rs 5.35 crore and destroyed 15,000 marijuana saplings valued at Rs 60 lakh.
The spokesman stated that performing on credible intelligence, the joint staff swiftly executed the operation, dealing a big blow to unlawful drug cultivation and smuggling networks within the space, which isn’t far-off from the India-Bangladesh border.
The seized marijuana was handed over to the police for additional authorized proceedings, whereas the illicit plantation was destroyed on-site to forestall its additional exploitation.
