Assam authorities will denotify 3 Proposed Reserve Forests (PRF) to provide land rights to twenty,000 residents, stated CM Sarma.
The Assam authorities has determined to denotify three Proposed Reserve Forests (PRF) in Tinsukia district for enabling over 20,000 residents to get land rights, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated.

In a Cupboard assembly, chaired by Sarma, on Friday the state authorities authorised remodeling the PRF into income villages so that folks dwelling within the space can get land rights.
“There are three Proposed Reserve Forests in Tinsukia. We have now determined to denotify and make them income villages. This may assist the individuals dwelling there to get land rights,” he stated at a late-night press convention right here.
The three PRFs are Talpathar (170 hectares), Mohongpathar (466 hectares) and 1st Addition to Duarmarah (113 hectares).
“There are over 20,000 individuals dwelling in these villages they usually weren’t getting any land rights attributable to restrictions of PRFs. That’s the reason we determined to make these PRFs as income villages as a substitute of creating them Reserve Forests,” Sarma stated.

Based on the India State of Forest Report (ISFR) 2023, Assam’s forest cowl has decreased by practically 84 sq km between 2021 and 2023, with the entire space underneath forest and tree cowl within the state now at 30,415.01 sq km.
