Blast in Punjab firecracker manufacturing facility claims 5 lives, a number of injured

5 individuals have been killed and practically 30 others injured in a blast in a firecracker manufacturing and packaging unit close to a village in Lambi in Punjab’s Sri Muktsar Sahib district, police mentioned on Friday.

Police mentioned the incident occurred round 1 a.m.

The blast befell within the two-storey manufacturing facility unit situated on Singhawali-Kotli street in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Lambi’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Jaspal Singh, advised PTI over telephone, including that migrant labourers labored on the unit.

The injured have been taken to hospitals, together with AIIMS Bathinda, and most of them have been said to be out of hazard, the DSP mentioned. The reason for the blast is beneath investigation, he mentioned.
