The Manipur unit of the Congress alleged on Monday (February 3, 2025) that Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh had threatened MLAs and instructed them to not transfer a no-trust movement in opposition to his authorities within the upcoming session of the 60-member State Meeting.
A Congress delegation led by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on the Raj Bhavan in Imphal and handed over a memorandum. Later, the Congress leaders instructed journalists that the occasion had apprised the Governor of the risk.
“At an occasion organised by the BJP at its head workplace (in Imphal) on January 14, 2025, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh stated that any MLA who strikes a no-confidence movement will be unable to remain in the home as he can be chased by the individuals,” Mr. Ibobi Singh, chief of the Manipur Congress Legislature Get together stated.
He stated Mr. Biren Singh’s assertion didn’t behove a chief minister.
Uncivilised assertion

Mr. Ibobi Singh stated the Congress requested the Governor to advise the State authorities, notably the Chief Minister. “If one thing goes incorrect throughout the Meeting session, it is going to be the only accountability of the State authorities,” he stated.
He stated the Congress would converse to its MLAs to resolve whether or not or to not transfer a non-confidence movement.
The Meeting session begins on February 10. Ten Kuki MLAs, who’ve stayed away from Imphal for the reason that ethnic battle broke out in Could 2023, are unlikely to attend. They embody seven from the Bharatiya Janata Get together.
