Curtain goes up on 11-day Swarayala Samanwayam dance, music fete

Minister for Native Self-Governments M.B. Rajesh inaugurating 11-day Swaralaya Samanwayam music and dance pageant at Rapadi open air auditorium in Palakkad on Saturday night.

Curtain went up on an 11-day dance and music programme being organised by the Swaralaya right here on Saturday night. The inaugural session of the Swaralaya Samanwayam marked a musical programme that paid tributes to lyricists Bichu Thirumala and M.D. Rajendran.

The musical night named ‘Ezhu swarangalum thazhuki varunnoru gaanam’ gave life to the songs of Bichu Thirumala and M.D. Rajendran at Rapadi open air auditorium.

Singer Sudeep Kumar kicked off the programme with a masterly rendition of ‘Kuri varachalum’, adopted by Rajalakshmi singing ‘Thushara bindukkale’, and Chitra Arun rendering ‘Ariyaathe’.

Edappal Viswan sang the title track for the programme ‘Ezhu swarangalum thazhuki varunnoru gaanam’.

Vocalist Bhavana Radhakrishnan and group will current a Carnatic musical orchestra on Sunday night. It is going to be adopted by a Mohiniyattam efficiency by Rajita Ravi.

Inaugurating the Swaralaya Samanwaya programme, Minister for Native Administration M.B. Rajesh mentioned that artwork and cultural expressions would assist uphold the nation’s constitutional values particularly at a time when the nation’s unity was dealing with challenges. He mentioned the music and dance pageant ought to fulfil each inventive and social roles.
