Bahujan Samaj Celebration (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday criticised Chief of the Opposition within the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for not talking on the Waqf (Modification) Invoice throughout an extended debate in Parliament.

The BSP chief had earlier on Thursday requested the Centre to rethink the provisions within the new Waqf legislation and droop it in the meanwhile.

The Centre on Tuesday notified the Waqf (Modification) Act, 2025, which bought the assent of President Droupadi Murmu on April 5 after its passage from Parliament following heated debates in each homes.

It was cleared by the Lok Sabha with 288 members supporting it and 232 in opposition to it.
