Farmer dies in elephant assault in Sakleshpur in Karnataka

A wild elephant trampled a farmer to dying close to Baikere in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district in Karnataka, on April 25. Shanmukha, 36, son of espresso planter Amruthesh, encountered the elephant whereas engaged on his farm.
The incident has left residents of close by villages in shock.
Earlier this 12 months, 4 individuals died in related incidents in Hassan district. The native individuals held a collection of protests demanding the seize and relocation of all wild elephants within the district.
The Forest Division performed an operation to seize wild elephants in March.
The division captured three elephants. Of them, two had been shifted to elephant camps whereas one was translocated with a radio collar. Moreover that, officers mounted radio-collars on two extra tuskers.
