For second time in 8 days, U.S. fighter jet assigned to USS Truman is misplaced in Crimson Sea

For the second time in simply over every week, an F/A-18E Tremendous Hornet fighter jet assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman has been misplaced within the Crimson Sea, a protection official confirmed to CBS Information. The 2 pilots aboard the plane sustained minor accidents within the ordeal.  

The official mentioned in an announcement that the Tremendous Hornet was trying to land on the flight deck of the Truman Tuesday “when an arrestment failed, inflicting the plane to go overboard.”

An arrestment is the mechanism that features an arresting cable to catch a fighter jet and safely gradual it down because it lands.

“Each aviators safely ejected and had been rescued by a helicopter assigned to Helicopter Sea Fight Squadron (HSC) 11,” the official mentioned. “The aviators had been evaluated by medical personnel and assessed to have minor accidents. No flight deck personnel had been injured.”

On April 28, a Tremendous Hornet was being towed within the Truman hangar bay when crews misplaced management of the plane and it went overboard, together with the tow tractor. One sailor suffered minor accidents within the incident.
