Goa: CADA Member, MLA Alleges Illegality In Denotifying Farmland For On line casino Mission | India Information

Aldona MLA and Command Space Growth Authority (CADA) member Carlos Alvares Ferreira has strongly condemned the state authorities’s choice to denotify 3.3 lakh sq. metres of irrigation land in Dhargalim, Pernem, for a proposed on line casino mission. Calling the transfer “fraudulent and unlawful,” Ferreira warned that the choice wouldn’t stand up to judicial scrutiny.

The land in query, initially earmarked for the Tillari irrigation mission, was just lately denotified by the state cupboard to facilitate the institution of a gaming zone by Delta Corp Ltd. Ferreira, a senior advocate, stated the denotification immediately violates provisions of the Command Space Growth Act, which was enacted to guard agricultural lands and assist farmers via irrigation.

“I used to be shocked to learn within the information that CADA land is being handed over to a on line casino agency. This land was labeled for irrigation use simply six months in the past beneath an authorised scheme by the CADA board,” Ferreira stated, noting that the cupboard’s unilateral motion bypassed the statutory process outlined within the Act.

He defined that beneath the legislation, land can solely be included or excluded from CADA via a proper scheme involving public objections and board approval. “I personally ensured the approval of this scheme on the final CADA board assembly,” he stated.

Criticising the position of the Funding Promotion Board (IPB) and the state cupboard, Ferreira asserted that no govt choice can override statutory authority. “The cupboard has no energy to bypass a board constituted beneath a legislation handed by the legislature,” he said.

Ferreira additionally accused the federal government of favouring on line casino pursuits, pointing to a reported Rs 5 crore waiver granted to Delta Corp. “I demand that the BJP authorities clarify who benefited from this waiver. This seems to be a corrupt act aimed toward gifting public land to personal gamers,” he stated, including that such actions contradict the BJP’s earlier stance in opposition to casinos in Goa.

“That is proof that the federal government is promoting Goa piece by piece. CADA land is supposed to maintain agriculture, not promote playing,” Ferreira stated, vowing to problem the choice legally.
