Hate speech case: Kerala Excessive Courtroom dismisses anticipatory bail plea of BJP chief P.C. George

The Kerala Excessive Courtroom on Friday (February 21, 2025) dismissed an anticipatory bail petition filed by BJP chief P.C. George in a hate speech case registered towards him by the Erattupetta police.
The case was registered towards Mr. George for the offences below Part 196(1)(a) (selling enmity between completely different teams on grounds of faith and so forth), and 299 (deliberate and malicious acts supposed to outrage spiritual emotions of any class by insulting its faith or spiritual beliefs) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Part 120 (O) (penalty for inflicting nuisance and violation of public order) the Kerala Police Act.
Opposing Mr. George’s plea, the general public prosecutor had submitted that Mr. George was not entitled to obtain anticipatory bail as he had blatantly violated the bail situation set by the Justice of the Peace courtroom and the Excessive Courtroom in 4 earlier instances of comparable nature. Mr. George had confirmed scant regard to the situation set by the courts towards making such feedback when he was granted bail within the case registered towards him earlier.
The Kottayam Periods Courtroom had earlier dismissed his anticipatory bail petition. In his petition, Mr. George mentioned that it was a slip of tongue. He made the remarks within the warmth of the second throughout a channel dialogue and had apologised for the feedback on his social media account. There was no deliberate intention to harm any spiritual sentiments.
The Excessive Courtroom had slammed Mr. George throughout the listening to of the bail plea for flouting the Excessive Courtroom and Justice of the Peace’s courtroom’s bail situations in hate speech instances registered earlier towards him and repeating such remarks in violation of the bail situations.
