Himachal: 250 roads closed because of heavy downpour; Met points orange alert

Heavy rains have led to the closure of 250 roads in Himachal Pradesh and the native meteorological workplace has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in remoted areas of the state, officers stated on Friday, 18 July.

The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) stated {that a} complete of 181 roads are closed in disaster-hit Mandi, 26 in Sirmaur and 23 in Kullu district, whereas 61 water provide schemes and 81 energy distribution transformers had been affected as of Friday morning.

The Met workplace has issued an ‘orange’ alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in remoted areas of Himachal Pradesh on 21 and 23 July, and ‘yellow’ alert, warning of heavy rains at remoted locations within the state until Sunday.

Mild to average rain lashed elements of the state on Thursday night. Jogindernagar acquired 40 mm of rain, Sarahan 38 mm, Jatton Barrage 28.6 mm, Kothi 28.4 mm, Shilaroo 26.4 mm, Murari Devi 26 mm, and Narkanda and Jot 23 mm every.
