After retiring from worldwide cricket, former New Zealand opening batter Martin Guptill feels he had extra to contribute to the nationwide facet and expressed “just a little little bit of disappointment with the way it all ended”. The 38-year-old batter, who gave again his contract to pursue taking part in alternatives elsewhere in late 2022, formally confirmed his retirement from worldwide cricket on Wednesday, 8 January.
He performed 367 video games (198 ODIs, 122 T20Is, 47 Exams) for the Black Caps, scoring 23 worldwide centuries throughout the three codecs. He completed his 14-year worldwide profession (2009 to 2022) as New Zealand’s main T20I run-scorer with 3,531 from 122 T20I matches, and his 7,346 ODI runs positioned him third on the ODI listing behind Ross Taylor and Stephen Fleming.

Guptill burst onto the worldwide scene in 2009 when he turned the primary New Zealander to attain a century on ODI debut, towards the West Indies at Eden Park. Furthermore, he was the primary New Zealander to attain an ODI double-century on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, when he smashed 237 not out within the quarterfinal win over the West Indies at Wellington Stadium.
