‘I limped to the Home’: Mallikarjun Kharge accuses BJP MPs of ‘bodily assault’ throughout protest exterior Parliament | India Information – Instances of India

NEW DELHI: Congress president and Rajya Sabha chief of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, alleging bodily assault by BJP MPs throughout a protest exterior Parliament constructing.
The incident, Kharge claimed, left him injured and struggling to enter the constructing.
In his letter, octogenarian chief detailed the scuffle close to the Makar Dwar entrance, saying, “Once I reached Makar Dwar together with the INDIA bloc MPs, I used to be bodily pushed by BJP MPs. Thereafter, I misplaced my stability and was compelled to take a seat down on the bottom in entrance of Makar Dwar. This inflicted damage on my knees, which have already undergone surgical procedure.”

LoP in Rajya Sabha added that Congress MPs rushed to help him. “Subsequently, Congress MPs introduced a chair, and I used to be made to take a seat on it. With nice problem and with the help of my colleagues, I limped to the Home at 11 AM,” he wrote.
Calling the incident an assault on his place and dignity, Kharge urged Speaker Om Birla to take motion. “I urge you to order an inquiry into this incident, which is an assault not simply on me personally however on the chief of the opposition in Rajya Sabha and the Congress president,” he acknowledged.
The altercation befell as members of the INDIA bloc, together with Kharge and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, staged a protest demanding an apology from residence minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Ambedkar.
The protest turned chaotic when BJP MPs confronted the INDIA bloc exterior Makar Dwar. Either side engaged in loud sloganeering, trying to drown out one another’s voices.
