India evacuates 75 nationals from Syria

India on Tuesday evacuated 75 Indian nationals from Syria, two days after insurgent forces overthrew President Bashar Assad’s authoritarian authorities.
The evacuation, coordinated by the embassies of India in Damascus and Beirut, was put in force following an evaluation of the safety scenario, the Ministry of Exterior Affairs (MEA) mentioned.
“The Authorities of India in the present day evacuated 75 Indian nationals from Syria, following current developments in that nation,” it mentioned in a late-night assertion.
“The evacuees included 44 ‘zaireen’ from Jammu and Kashmir who had been stranded at Saida Zainab. All Indian nationals have safely crossed over to Lebanon and can return by obtainable business flights to India,” it mentioned.
The MEA mentioned the federal government accords the very best precedence to the security and safety of Indian nationals overseas.
“Indian nationals remaining in Syria are suggested to remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Damascus,” it mentioned.
