Jammu and Kashmir: Rs 18,000 crore value of state land encroached on, BJP seeks timeframe to repair it

The Jammu and Kashmir authorities on 13 March, Thursday stated state land valued at over Rs 18,000 crore is beneath unlawful encroachment within the union territory. Eviction processes have been initiated to reclaim it.

“The whole state land illegally occupied by encroachers in J-Okay measures to 17, 27,241 kanals and eight marlas (2,15,905 acres). A complete of 15,39,662 kanals and 15 marlas (1,92,457 acres) have been reclaimed from encroachers,” Itoo stated.
She additional stated 13,645 kanals and 12 marlas (39,205 acres) are but to be retrieved. “The tentative worth of the land beneath encroachment is Rs 18,049.6 crores (3,13,645 kanals and 12 marlas),” the minister added, noting that eviction processes have been initiated.
A number of members, together with BJP members Narinder Singh Raina, Rajiv Jasrotia, and R S Pathania, posed supplementary questions looking for fixing of the timeframe for eradicating in depth encroachments on state land.
