Kerala authorities declares three-day State mourning as a mark of respect for Pope Francis

The Kerala authorities has declared a three-day State mourning in honour of His Holiness Pope Francis.

The federal government has cancelled official “entertainments” on April 22 and April 23. The State will observe a one-day mourning on the day of Pope Francis’ funeral, which the Vatican is but to announce.

The federal government has instructed the District Collectors to fly the nationwide flag at half-mast on the times of State mourning. 

The choice follows the Union Ministry of Dwelling Affairs’ letter to State governments late Tuesday, declaring a interval of nationwide mourning.
