Kuki-Zo apex physique seeks separate administration in Manipur’s hill areas

A four-member group of the apex physique and political platform for all Kuki-Zo individuals in Manipur on Friday positioned its demand earlier than the Centre for a separate administration for the group and the initiation of a political dialogue to resolve its points.

The calls for have been positioned by a delegation led by Henlianthang Thanglet, chairman, Kuki-Zo Council, earlier than a two-member group of the Centre’s representatives, led by interlocutor A.Ok. Mishra.

“We positioned our demand for a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo individuals of Manipur and the initiation of a political dialogue,” Kuki-Zo Council spokesperson Ginza Vualzong advised PTI over the telephone.

The Kuki-Zo group has been in search of a dialogue with the Centre to expedite a political resolution over its demand for a Union Territory with a legislature underneath article 239(A) of the Structure for the group individuals dwelling within the hill areas of Manipur.

To forestall future confrontations between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, the council has been in search of full adherence of the buffer zone by the Meiteis.

The dialogue between the Kuki-Zo Council and the Centre’s representatives was held days after the council met newly-appointed Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in Churachandpur, in search of restoration of peace within the ethnic strife-torn northeastern state and options to the problems being confronted by the group.
