Lok Sabha adjourned for half-hour on account of protests by DMK members over remarks by Pradhan

Lok Sabha proceedings have been on Monday (March 10, 2025) adjourned for about half-hour after Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) members staged protests over Union Schooling Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s remarks that Tamil Nadu authorities was “dishonest” and “ruining” the way forward for the scholars of the state by taking an entire ‘U-Flip’ on the problem of implementing the PM Colleges for Rising India (PM SHRI).
Replying to a query on the PM SHRI scheme, Mr. Pradhan mentioned the DMK-led Tamil Nadu authorities has modified its stand on implementing the centrally-sponsored scheme which envisaged strengthening the colleges managed by central, state or native our bodies.

The state involved has to signal an MoU with the central authorities that it will implement the Nationwide Schooling Coverage 2020.
“The Tamil Nadu authorities had initially agreed to signal the MoU. However now they’ve modified the stand. Many non-BJP-ruled states, together with Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, have signed the settlement,” he mentioned.
Mr. Pradhan mentioned: “They’re dishonest and they’re ruining the way forward for the scholars of Tamil Nadu. They’re doing politics”.
Taking robust exception to the minister’s remarks, the DMK members registered robust protests by elevating slogans in opposition to the central authorities.
Speaker Om Birla requested the agitating members to return to their seats and permit the Home to perform usually. Nevertheless, the DMK members ignored his pleas and continued their protests.
After someday, Birla adjourned the Home until 12 midday.
