‘Madam is busy’: When Najma Heptulla waited for an hour to talk to Sonia Gandhi

The previous Manipur Governor, then a Congress member, has narrated the episode in her just-released autobiography.

Former Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla recalled ready for a whole hour to talk with then-Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who finally didn’t come on the road, whereas then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee answered immediately.

In 1999, after being elected to steer the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), a global physique of nationwide parliaments, Heptulla known as the 2 leaders from Berlin. She recounts the episode in her autobiography, In Pursuit of Democracy: Past Celebration Strains.
