MEA says 12 Indians combating in Russian Military killed, 16 lacking in battle with Ukraine

Addressing the weekly media presser, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Friday mentioned that of the overall 126 Indians reported to be combating for Russia within the Russia-Ukraine battle, 12 have died, whereas 16 Indians are lacking. He additionally added that 96 have returned and 18 are but to return to India.

“There have been 126 instances (of Indian nationals serving within the Russian Military). Of those 126 instances, 96 folks have returned to India and have been discharged from the Russian armed forces,” MEA spokesperson mentioned. 

On the loss of life of Binil Babu, 32, a Kerala man who died whereas combating within the Russian military on the frontlines, the MEA known as the incident ‘unlucky’, including, “Our embassy is in contact with the Russian authorities in order that his mortal stays might come again to India as quickly as potential.” 

The MEA spokesperson additionally added that India is in search of the discharge and repatriation of those that stay in Russia.

Earlier on Tuesday, MEA reiterated its demand for an early discharge of Indian nationals working within the Russian Military, saying, “We now have learnt of the unlucky loss of life of an Indian nationwide from Kerala who had apparently been recruited to serve within the Russian Military. One other Indian nationwide from Kerala, who was equally recruited, has been injured and is receiving therapy in a hospital in Moscow. We provide our deepest condolences to the household of the deceased.”

“Our Embassy in Moscow is in contact with the households, and all potential help is being rendered. We’re working with the Russian authorities for early transportation of the mortal stays to India,” MEA added in its assertion.
