Members of Parliamentary Standing Committee go to Polavaram challenge in Andhra Pradesh

The Union Jal Sakthi Parliamentary Standing Committee (2024-25), led by its Chairperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy, arrived on the Polavaram challenge web site on Saturday to evaluation the progress of the irrigation challenge.

Andhra Pradesh’s Water Sources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu defined to the committee the standing of the works.

Stating that the challenge was the lifeline for the State, Mr. Ramanaidu mentioned 72% of the work had been accomplished throughout the earlier tenure of the TDP authorities (2014-19). The Minister additional mentioned the purpose of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was interlinking of rivers.

The committee would examine the cofferdam, diaphragm wall, and spillway channel, and submit its findings to the Parliament.

The members of the committee included Khiru Mahto and Dharmasheela Gupta from Rajya Sabha, and R. Sher Singh Ghubaya, Rodmal Nagar, Jayanta Basumatary, Narayan Das Ahirwar, Sanjna Jatav, Sagar Eshwar Khandre, Vishal (Dada) Prakashbapu Patil, and Mohite-Patil Dhairyashil Rajsingh from Lok Sabha.
