MSP at core of dissent, Punjab rejects Centre’s draft agriculture mktg coverage
In a pointy rebuttal to the BJP-led Central authorities’s draft Nationwide Coverage Framework on agriculture advertising, the Punjab authorities has rejected the proposal, citing its silence on minimal help value (MSP) and different key issues.
Days after AAP (Aam Aadmi Social gathering) convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP authorities of making an attempt to reintroduce the repealed farm legal guidelines “via the backdoor”, Punjab’s response has intensified the talk.
Calling MSP the “most vital situation” for Punjab’s farmers, the state authorities’s reply to the Centre highlighted fears that the draft coverage undermines farmers’ pursuits.
“The absence of any reference to MSP within the framework has reignited apprehensions,” the federal government’s response acknowledged, including that MSP is important to safeguarding farmers from market exploitation, the New Indian Specific reported.
The rejection comes as farmer unions underneath the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) held an enormous kisan mahapanchayat (mega farmers’ rally) in Moga on Thursday, amplifying their opposition to the coverage.
