Mussalman Wakf Act repealed, with President’s assent to Waqf Invoice (now regulation)

President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday, 5 April, gave her assent to the Waqf (Modification) Invoice, 2025, which was handed by Parliament earlier this week after heated debates in each Homes.
Murmu additionally gave her assent to the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Invoice, 2025.
“The next Act of Parliament acquired the assent of the president on April 5, 2025, and is hereby revealed for normal data: The Waqf (Modification) Act, 2025,” the federal government stated in a notification.
Parliament early on Friday, 4 April, authorized the Invoice after the Rajya Sabha gave its nod to the contentious laws following an over 13-hour debate.
The dialogue witnessed staunch objections from opposition events, which termed the Invoice “anti-Muslim” in addition to “unconstitutional”, whereas the federal government responded that the “historic reform” would profit the minority group.
