The BJP received three out 5 of the meeting constituencies in riot-hit North East Delhi, with former AAP MLA Kapil Mishra registering a robust win in Karawal Nagar. The AAP received the remaining two seats – Seelampur and Gokalpur – within the district because the outcomes of the Delhi meeting elections have been declared on Saturday.
Mishra joined the BJP in 2019, and his controversial speech in February 2020 was blamed for being one of many triggers to the communal violence following clashes between supporters and opponents of the Citizenship (Modification) Act, or the CAA.

Zubair Ahmad is the son of Chaudhary Mateen Ahmad, who represented Seelampur from 1993 to 2015 — first as a Janata Dal candidate, then as an Unbiased and later as a Congress chief. His son received a complete of 79,009 votes, defeating the BJP’s Anil Kumar Sharma by a margin of 42,477 votes. Rehman got here in third with a complete of 16,551 votes.
