The Indian Navy warship INS Tabar, at present deployed within the Gulf of Oman, sprang into motion on Sunday after receiving a misery name from a service provider vessel, MT Yi Cheng 6, which reported a significant hearth in its engine room and full energy failure.
The MT Yi Cheng 6, flagged below Pulau and carrying 14 Indian crew members, was en route from Kandla in Gujarat to Shinas, Oman, when the incident occurred. In response to the misery name, INS Tabar swiftly deployed a workforce comprising 13 Indian naval personnel and 5 crew members to help in firefighting efforts.
The firefighting workforce and specialised tools had been transferred to the distressed vessel utilizing INS Tabar’s boat and helicopter. The Indian Navy confirmed the operation in an announcement posted on social media platform X (previously generally known as Twitter).
“The vessel with 14 crew members of Indian origin, transiting from Kandla, India to Shinas, Oman, skilled a significant hearth within the engine room and complete energy failure onboard,” the assertion stated.

The Indian Navy often carries out rescue and reduction missions in its space of operations. Earlier this month, the service carried out a coordinated Search And Rescue operation with the Coast Guard after a hearth was reported onboard the Singaporean-flagged MV Wan Hai 503.
The Navy and Coast Guard managed to securely rescue 18 out of twenty-two crew members onboard. The MV had reported an inner container explosion and a resultant main hearth onboard.
