Poila Baisakh is an emotion for Bengalis: Actor Rituparna Sengupta embraces festivities, pays tribute to her mom

Actor Rituparna Sengupta calls Poila Baisakh/Pohela Boishakh an emotion as she reminisces her childhood reminiscences, and dedicates her movie Puratawn to her mom.

Because the Bengali group ushers within the new yr with prayers and gratitude for the harvest immediately – on Poila Baisakh/Pohela Boishakh – actor-producer Rituparna Sengupta describes it as greater than “only a competition”. “Pohela Boishakh is an emotion for Bengalis,” she tells us and elaborates, “It marks a recent starting — new garments, new meals and new ventures and heat exchanges among the many group.”

Considering again fondly on celebrating the competition as a toddler, Rituparna says, “We used to hunt blessings from our elders after which have a pooja. We’d put on new attire and revel in a hearty Bengali meal. After all, sweets are an integral a part of the celebrations by way of which we instill love and affection!”

The 53-year-old, who misplaced her mom late final yr, admits she misses her probably the most immediately. “I dearly miss my mom.
