President Droupadi Murmu Assents To Waqf (Modification) Invoice, 2025

President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the Waqf (Modification) Invoice, 2025 on Saturday, which was handed by Parliament just a few days again.

“The next Act of Parliament acquired the assent of the president on April 5, 2025, and is hereby printed for basic info: The Waqf (Modification) Act, 2025,” the federal government stated in a notification.

Early, on Friday Parliament authorised the Invoice after the Rajya Sabha gave its nod to the contentious laws following an over 13-hour debate.

The Invoice was handed within the Rajya Sabha with 128 votes in favour and 95 in opposition to it. It was handed within the Lok Sabha early on Thursday, with 288 members supporting it and 232 in opposition to it.

After the invoice was handed in parliament, the dialogue noticed sturdy objections from opposition events, which termed the Invoice “anti-Muslim” in addition to “unconstitutional”. In response, the federal government argued that the “historic reform” would profit the minority neighborhood.
