Protests in opposition to Waqf Modification Invoice comprehensible: Omar Abdullah

Parliament’s joint committee has submitted its report on the Waqf (Modification) Invoice. Although not listed but, there’s hypothesis that the proposed laws might be introduced for passage in Parliament throughout the ongoing Funds session.
The 31-member panel on the Invoice, after a number of sittings and hearings, prompt a number of amendments to the proposed laws even because the opposition members disagreed with the report and submitted dissent notes.
The 655-page report was submitted to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on 30 January.
The joint committee adopted the report that contained adjustments prompt by members of the ruling BJP by a 15-11 majority vote. The transfer prompted the opposition to dub the train an try and destroy Waqf boards.
The Invoice was referred to the joint committee on 8 August 2024, following its introduction within the Lok Sabha by Union minority affairs minister Kiren Rijiju.
