Union Minister of State for Training Sukanta Majumdar on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) dubbed the Tamil Nadu authorities “hypocrite”, accusing it of refusing to implement Nationwide Training Coverage (NEP) 2020 as a part of a political agenda since elections had been approaching within the State.
Chatting with reporters outdoors Parliament, Mr. Majumdar mentioned that the claims of any differential therapy to Tamil Nadu had been false. “They [the Tamil Nadu government] are doing this solely as a result of elections are nearing within the State. The claims of differential therapy to Tamil Nadu are false. We’re advocating for educating and studying in mom tongue for college students until Class V. In Tamil Nadu, the mom tongue is Tamil; the place is the issue then?” Mr. Majumdar instructed PTI.
Taking a jibe on the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Ok. Stalin-led authorities, he mentioned they had been making an attempt to “create a political agenda” by refusing to implement NEP 2020 and the three-language system.
The row over implementing NEP 2020 in Tamil Nadu echoed in Parliament on Monday (March 10, 2025).
Lok Sabha proceedings had been adjourned for about half-hour after DMK members condemned Union Training Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s remarks that the Tamil Nadu authorities was being “dishonest” on the problem of implementation of the PM Faculties for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme.
Mr. Pradhan had mentioned that the State authorities had modified its stand on implementing the scheme that envisaged the strengthening of the faculties managed by the Centre, State, or native our bodies.
The State involved has to signal a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre that it could implement NEP 2020 and, accordingly, the Centre would supply the funds.
