The Jam drummer Rick Buckler dies aged 69

Rick Buckler, former drummer in The Jam, has died on the age of 69, his ex-bandmates have confirmed on social media.

The Jam rose to fame within the punk and new wave period of the late Nineteen Seventies and are credited with inspiring a revival in mod vogue and music.

The band have been led by singer and guitarist Paul Weller, who posted on X that he was “shocked and saddened” by Buckler’s dying.

Bass participant Bruce Foxton mentioned he was “devastated”.

In an announcement, his household described him as a “loving husband, father and grandfather” who was “dedicated to many” and will likely be “enormously missed”.

The assertion added that he had “handed away peacefully on Monday night in Woking after a brief sickness with household by his facet”.

The Jam had 18 consecutive UK prime 40 singles from their debut hit in 1977 to their break-up in December 1982.

Their 4 primary hits included Going Underground and A City Known as Malice.

Buckler and Foxton later performed collectively in a successor band, From the Jam, whereas Weller continued his profession with the Model Council and as a solo artist.

Buckler had lately been compelled to cancel a spoken-word tour of UK venues due to well being issues.
