UP: Pastor Arrested For Luring Folks In Meerut To Convert To Christianity For Monetary Incentives | India Information

A pastor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly luring folks in Meerut with monetary incentives to transform to Christianity, officers stated.
Ravi Kumar Azad alias Ravi Pastor, the principle accused within the Meerut non secular conversion case, had been on the run for the reason that case was registered in August 2024, police stated.
Earlier, 5 accused had been arrested within the case and despatched to jail.
In accordance with a district police spokesperson, Azad, a resident of Jatav Nagar within the Qutubsher police station space of Saharanpur, was arrested within the morning.
A particular group led by Inspector Anil Kumar Singh and Yogesh Chand from the Meerut Crime Department, with help from the ATS Meerut, acted on a tip-off and arrested Azad close to the Bhaura Mandir outpost within the Paith Bazaar space of Saharanpur, the spokesperson stated.
The case was registered on August 12, 2024, on a criticism by Manoj Tyagi, alleging that Azad and his associates had been coercing people from the Scheduled Caste neighborhood and folks from different social backgrounds to transform to Christianity.
He claimed that the accused lured them with monetary help and created psychological stress to simply accept the faith.
Based mostly on the criticism, a case was registered at Kankerkhera police station right here underneath the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Illegal Non secular Conversion Act, 2021, in opposition to Azad and 6 others, the official stated.
The investigation into the case was being carried out by the Meerut Crime Department. 5 of the accused have already been despatched to jail. Azad, the prime accused, had been on the run for the reason that incident, the official stated.
