US confirms direct talks with Hamas over Gaza hostages

The US is holding talks with Hamas over the hostages held in Gaza, the White Home has confirmed.

Washington has till now prevented direct engagement with Hamas, and there’s a longstanding US coverage in opposition to having direct contact with teams it lists as terrorist organisations.

The White Home press secretary Karoline Leavitt instructed reporters at a briefing that Israel had been consulted previous to the talks.

Information of the talks had been first reported by Axios, which stated the 2 sides had been discussing the discharge of US hostages in addition to a wider deal to finish the warfare.
