A strong 8.8-magnitude undersea earthquake struck off Russia’s Far Jap Kamchatka Peninsula early on Wednesday, triggering tsunami waves of as much as 4 metres (13 ft) and prompting evacuations within the space and throughout most of Japan’s east coast, officers stated.
