Waqf violence in Bengal: NHRC group in Malda to satisfy refugees from Murshidabad as stress prevails

A group of the Nationwide Human Rights Fee (NHRC) on Friday arrived in West Bengal’s Malda district to satisfy individuals who have taken shelter in refugee camps after fleeing violence-hit areas of Murshidabad district.

The NHRC took suo motu cognisance of the current violence in Murshidabad that broke out throughout protests over the Waqf (Modification) Act.

The Fee on Tuesday mentioned it has determined to ship a group to conduct an on-the-spot inquiry into the incidents, contemplating the seriousness of the scenario.

The NHRC motion comes following the receipt of a proper criticism concerning the violence and the alleged human rights violations within the affected areas.

In line with officers, three folks had been killed throughout the violent clashes that erupted within the Muslim-majority areas of Shamsherganj, Suti, Dhulian, and Jangipur in Murshidabad district.
