Will Jio, Vi, Airtel, BSNL Customers Not Obtain OTPs After November 30 As TRAI Deadline Kicks In From December 1? Regulator Clarifies | Expertise Information

New Delhi: A piece of the media had reported that telecom subscribers of Reliance Jio, Vodafone Thought, BSNL, Airtel might cease receiving OTPs or get delayed OTPs after November 30 due to the TRAI deadline on message traceability that kicks in from December 1.
Responding to information reviews, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has stated that the information shouldn’t be appropriate. In its official X (previously Twtter) deal with, the regulator has stated, “That is factually incorrect. TRAI has mandated the Entry Suppliers to make sure message traceability. It won’t delay supply of any message. “

On August 20, TRAI had issued directives to entry suppliers to curb misuse, fraud via messaging. Among the many directives was regulation on curb doubtful OTPs for which TRAI had requested telecom firms to supply message traceability. TRAI had mandated that the path of all messages from senders to recipients have to be traceable, the deadline of which was set for November 30, 2024. Any message with an undefined or mismatched telemarketer chain will likely be rejected.
TRAI had additionally mandated all entry service suppliers emigrate telemarketing calls beginning with 140 collection to the net DLT platform by September 30, 2024, for higher monitoring and management.
Efficient September 1, 2024, all entry service suppliers are prohibited from transmitting messages containing URLs, APKs, OTT hyperlinks, or call-back numbers that aren’t whitelisted by the senders.
