In a press release launched by writer Ladybird Books, the household stated they had been asserting with “deep sorrow” that Adamson died on Sunday.
Adamson created the Topsy and Tim collection, which follows the adventures of two twins and spawned greater than 150 books, alongside her husband Gareth Adamson, who died in 1982.
Her household described her as a “devoted mom, grandmother, sister, writer and great-grandmother, whose kindness and heat touched the lives of all who knew her”.

Adamson was born in south-east London in 1928 and studied illustration at college.
